IT Technician
Reports to: IT Manager
Employment Type: Full-Time
The IT Technician will play a key role in supporting and maintaining both factory-based and office-based IT systems. This position is essential to ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of all technology systems across the business, including production equipment, office infrastructure, and user support. The successful candidate will be hands-on, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Factory-Based IT Support:
- Maintain and troubleshoot factory IT systems, including PCs, scanners, label printers, and machine interfaces.
- Ensure minimal downtime by providing timely and effective technical support on the production floor, including ensuring preventive maintenance is carried out.
- Support the stability and reliability of network and equipment connectivity on the shop
- floor.
- Assist in the IT integration of automation and engineering projects.
Office-Based IT Support:
- Set up and support IT equipment including PCs, printers, and telephony systems for office users.
- Maintain and manage desktops, laptops, user accounts, access permissions, and peripheral devices.
- Provide day-to-day IT support for office staff, including resolving issues related to Microsoft Business Central, Microsoft 365, Asana, Active Directory, and general business software.
- Lead Cybersecurity Awareness across the business and ensure compliance to policies.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, and user access issues across departments.
General IT Duties:
- Lead the IT helpdesk; providing accurate and timely resolutions while documenting solutions.
- Maintain and update IT Runbook including asset inventories.
- Support ongoing IT improvement projects, upgrades, and cybersecurity compliance (including Cyber Essentials).
- Contribute to the overall performance and security of IT systems within the business.
Experience & Skills Required:
- Relevant 3rd level qualification with 2+ years' experience OR 5+ years in a technical IT support role
- System Administration Experience (Windows Server, Active Directory, Onboarding/Off-boarding Management etc.)
- IT Hardware Support – including desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, and networking
- equipment.
- Systems Support Experience – troubleshooting, maintenance, and technical support.
- ERP System Exposure – experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or similar ERP systems (desirable).
- Familiarity with user management, licensing, and cybersecurity practices.
- Prior experience working in a manufacturing or production environment is an advantage.
